Help with buying a boat?
I'm looking into buying a boat for creel fishing, i left school two years ago and have worked as a salmon fisherman since so i know a bit about boats and working at the sea.
I'm aware that i would need a licence to sell lobsters and crabs but not to catch them.
Would i need a licence to use the boat and insurance for it?
Right, you will need a insurance to sail any boat whether its a 12ft or 50ft, the reason is just in case you cause an accident you can use your insurance to cover any damage that you may have caused and you will not get sued for damages, you need to get your boat registered to the SSR, (small ships register) this way they will know who you are and know that your boat is yours, also you will also need to get a VHF radio, that will also need you to take a days course to get the licence, nobody in their right mind would go out without a radio and it is a legal requirement no matter what you sail on, I have put a couple of links for you to look at.
