Outboard motor top speed?
I recently got an older 14' fiberglass boat with a V shaped hull, not sure on the weight, but I can pick the trailer up with the boat with one hand so it can't weigh too much... I'm curious if anyone knows about what top speed I could expect from a 5.5hp motor... Obviously I'm not looking to fly across the lake, just doing some fishing, but I was curious. Thanks.
it will do the job. i had a johnson 3.3 on my cabin's aluminum boat (you know, the kind a cabin on a small lake would have) it got me (well 130 pounds) on plane on half throttle. it got me and my brother on plane (about 250 pounds together) on plane at a little more than half throttle.
unless you have one of those heavy old fiberglass boats it'll do just fine
