Government Regulations Causing Industries to Die?

What are some examples of industries that are now dying because of government interference? For example, in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom, fishing in many small towns was wiped out with many boats being decommissioned. This was because the European Union began limiting the amount of fish that could be caught per month, slowing business.

Are you out of your mind? It wasn't government regulation that destroyed the fishing industry in so many places around the world (including small towns in the U.K. and Northern ireland) but over-fishing.

Government regulations on limiting the catch have been the sole force that has preserved fishing in a few parts of the world:

Then there are the EPA regulations and their effect on the lead paint industry, the CFC and carbon tet industries, etc.

And what about fraud and similar criminal behavior? Do you consider laws that try to prevent them as regulations causing industries to die? If so, then include FDA regulations and their effect on "snake-oil" salesmen.
