using sabiki jigs?
i can never seem to catch bait fish wath a sibiki rig while my boat (fishing kayak) is drifting, the rig always ends up being pulled sideways with my boat instead of jigging up and down. do i need to use a heavier sinker? any ideas?
You could go with a heavier sinker to help with the problem but you will still go sideways because the yak is being pushed by the wind and current. You may want to invest in an anchor of some sort to hold your position while you catch bait. You can even go so far as to use a small sea anchor if added weight from an anchor is an issue. Also, I use sabiki rigs religiously, I have found that if you take the time to cut just a little of the material ( that wing part over the hook) in an angle upwards, you catch more bait faster. Don't cut it all off, just about mid shank would be fine. This will also help with the drag issue of the sabiki rig while in the yak. Good luck catchin'.
