What sort of fishing rod and reel should i buy?
My mate just bought a new boat and because of this im looking at investing in a new rod and reel. I want to invest in a good setup that will last a long time and be able to use it in a variety of locations.
By this i mean that it will be used in the harbour (where most fish caught will be small...30cm snapper, gurnard, kawhai etc), and for going over the bar catching bigger fish (aiming for 20lb snapper and Kingfish etc).
Im also considering getting a softbait rod. Are they any good when just using frozen bait??

if he has a boat, you can get a real big Shakespeare Ugly Stick with the baitcaster reel. i have it and its a great setup
