Group of friends going on vacation for the first time, should we go to Maui or Honolulu?
Im from NY and I am in desperate need of a vacation. Me and a few of my friends were planning on going to Hawaii for a weeks vacation in January. Should we go to Honolulu or Maui? We are all 21 and this is my first vacation without my parents following me so I want to go to a real fun place. What is there to do in each and hows the weather at the time? I would really like to learn how to surf or go jet skiing, and my friends are also going to want to hit up some clubs for 21 year olds. What do you guys think?

First off, if it is in your budget do both! Spend 3 days on Maui and 4 on Oahu to get the best of both.
If budget says one island only, do Oahu! There is so much to do and Oahu has the best nightlife of all the Hawaiian Islands! Lots of clubs of all kinds from great dancing to kareoke on the beach, try something new every night!
The weather in Hawaii is great all year long with temperatures from 70-89 and lots of sun! The trade winds keep everything feeling wonderful and I just cant say enough about how nice it is there!
On Oahu you can take surfing lessons right on Waikiki, lots of water sports all over the island, best snorkeling is at Hanauma Bay with tons of fish, turtles & more, hiking, spas, snorkeling tours (I highly recommend Joy of the Ocean Cruises - we saw whales, dolphins, turtles, fish!) and since you will be there in January make sure to take a whale watching cruise! Humpback whales are not to be missed!
Also don't forget to hit a luau - I love Paradise Cove, great pre-show activities, wonderful meal, great show and you can ride the party bus to the luau right from your waikiki hotel!
